08/2012: Appointment of Editorial Board Member: Dr. Ruan has been appointed as an Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports, a journal published by the Nature Publishing Group (publisher of Nature).

 

07/2012: PhD dissertation defense. Bo successfully defended his PhD dissertation. He will join MIT as a postdoctoral fellow with Professor Gang Chen. He turned down multiple industry positions. Congratulations, Bo!

 

04/2012: Best Poster Award. Bo won a Best Poster Award at the US-India Symposium of Nanomaterials for Energy, held at Purdue.

 

03/2012: Best Paper Award Nomination. Our paper, "Thermal Radiative Properties of Thin Vertical Graphitic Arrays", was nominated for the Best Paper Award at the 2012 ASME Microscale and Nanoscale Heat and Mass Transfer (MNHMT) Conference. The authors are Subrahmanya (Bhagirath) Duvvuri, Anurag Kumar, Hua Bao, Haoxiang Huang, Timothy Fisher, and Xiulin Ruan.

 

02/2012: MS thesis defense. Bhagirath successfully defended his MS thesis and joined Cummins.

 

02/2012: Faculty Award. Dr. Ruan received the prestigious NSF CAREER Award.

 

02/2012: Student Award. Bo Qiu received the Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship for his outstanding performance during PhD. It is probably the most competitive and prestigious award Purdue gives to PhD candidates, and only 2-3 awards are given to ME PhD candidates every year. This is the second consecutive award in our group (last year Hua) which is truly exceptional. Congratulations, Bo!

04/2009: Limin defended her Ph.D. thesis at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and moved to West Lafayette. This marks the end of the two-body problem for over two years!
